Fastener testing – is it for real?

Traditionally, roofing fasteners have been tested by means of various types of laboratory tests. The most popular of these tests are salt fog and sulphur dioxide (Kesternich) tests. Salt spray tests try to simulate a marine environment and to test the effect of salt laden air on fasteners. Sulphur dioxide tests try to simulate an industrial environment and to test the effect of industrial fall-out on fasteners.
